Graduate Sport Rehabilitators (GSR’s) are autonomous healthcare professionals who adhere to the highest professional standards. We are regulated by the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT). BASRaT registrants are accredited by the Professional Standards Authority, the UK’s top medical regulator. GSR’s are also included in the General Medical Council’s referral guidelines and can take referrals from the wider healthcare team.
GSR’s help people suffering from pain, injury or illness involving the musculoskeletal system. We treat people of all ages and all fitness levels by helping them to improve or restore everyday function or in the case of elite athletes to restore them to high levels of function after injury and illness. We are trained to treat not only sports injuries in all levels of sport but also to treat everyday and occupational injuries, pain and musculoskeletal conditions. In doing so we use biomechanics, treatment programmes, manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation and education to treat injuries and manage pain. Our training in sports science equips us well when treating athletes with injuries.
In addition to my work at the clinic, I have worked for over 3 years with a local professional rugby league team in the Ruby League Championship, treating players injuries, designing and implementing rehabilitation plans and return to play plans and working pitchside on match days. To do this I have to hold an advanced first aid trauma care qualification. I have also worked with the England Community Lions U19 and U23 rugby league teams.
As a former gymnast and competition dancer, I am able to understand and empathise with the needs of amateur and professional athletes. Making a difference in people’s lives through improving health and well-being is what attracted me to the profession. I enjoy interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds and gaining their trust as they get to know me. I hope that this enables me to provide a professional yet friendly, compassionate and empathetic service to all of my clients.
